Estuve leyendo muy entretenido estos analisis sobe varios juegos por cierto Blogger. Aqui esta el analisis del Earthbound y el Final Fantasy III (VI en Japón). Estan muy bien escritos y estan constantemente tirando conceptos muy buenos acerca de que es un videojuego que no, y su relación con otros medios de Storytelling, como las novelas, las operas, el cine, etc, y jamas tomandolo como un simple entretenimiento, cosa que no son hace ya más de 15 años.
La del Earthbound es especialmente sorprendente – juego que jugue hasta llegar hasta un cuarto más o menos, que me parecio raro pero el juego en si un poco aburrido. El autor lo considera el segundo mejor videojuego de la historia (numero 1: Super Mario 3) y destaca muchisimas cosas interesantes – como el ser quizas el primer videojuego que tiene auto-consciencia de que es un videojuego, de que hay alguien atras del control, jugandolo, y reirse de ello y al mismo tiempo hacerte emocionar y comprenetrarte en el juego. Sobre el Final Fantasy III (uno de mis videojuegos favoritos) tambien se fija en detalles geniales que habia olvidado:

(…) when Cyan stands at the edge of the platform in the Phantom Forest, after the train ferrying his family to the afterlife has departed, there’s this awkward silence. The rectangular train platform has no exit. Shadow stands in the middle of the platform, poised, with his dog. Cyan stands at the end of the platform, head bowed. Sabin is under our control. We can walk left or right. Talk to Cyan, and he says nothing. He doesn’t move. A word balloon doesn’t even pop up. Talk to Shadow, and he says «Leave him alone,» of Cyan. Sabin says nothing. We run back and forth for a few moments, in utter musical silence, unable even to open our own menu, until the screen fades to black. How many players, at this moment, tried to open their menu, only to find that you couldn’t do it? I, for one, did. What did I want to see? What did the director not want me to see?

PS: Tambien parece que Tim, el blogger, es fan de los Boredoms y via su blog me entere que Nobuo Uematsu (creador de la música de todos los Final Fantasy) tiene una banda donde toca esos temas, llamada genialmente The Black Mages.
