Hace dos semanas – a causa de un cambio obligado de motherboard – decidí decirle adiós al viejo disquito de windows xp sp2 que tenia guardado por ahí, y me descargue una version del windows ue. para los que no la conocen, es una versión modificada del instalador de windows (hecha por un español) diseñada para , por ejemplo, cybercafes, donde se la puede instalar prestándole la mínima atención posible (ue = unattended). Incluye otras ventajas, como todos los service packs ya instalados (mejorando bastante la seguridad y estabilidad), y permite instalar algún software de ese que siempre utilizamos por defecto (lease, nero, acrobat, winamp, winrar, etc). Permite desactivar la barra de idioma por defecto, y también – esto es fantástico – desactivar el auto-start insoportable de los CDs, que como saben, es imposible de desactivar por medios normales en windows.
Así que bueno, la verdad que lo instale y no tuve problemas, fue rápido, sencillo y anda muy bien. Recomendado 100%. Pueden descargarlo por torrents desde cualquier sitio, como btjunkie.org (la versión que yo descargue fue la v9.5)

Cada día estoy usando más Google Docs. Básicamente para dos aplicaciones bien chotas y simples: Tengo un documento titulado simplemente «cosas», que lo tengo en la barra de favoritos del FireFox tanto en mi trabajo como en mi casa. Su utilidad es de un portapapeles momentáneo, telefonos, algun link interesante, cosa para chequear luego, todo va ahi en segundos y luego se puede revisar en el otro lugar donde este. Seguro hay aplicaciones especificas para este uso, pero por ahora, esto me funciona y muy bien.

Otro documento que utilizo es una hoja de excel donde anoto los gastos del mes, y donde se suman por categorias (cuentas, comida, viáticos, etc). Luego de formatear la máquina, decidí también probar suerte con el OpenOffice, y por ahora también, muy bien. Converti el .xls al formato de open office, y pese a un error patético en los cálculos ( la sintaxis de las formulas del excel al open office es diferente en solo un carácter y el tarado del programa ni lo convirtió ) esta todo bien. Incluso el archivo pesa 16k, comparado con 140k del .xls. wtf? porque pesa tanto una hoja de cálculo?? Pero en fin. Si solo utilizan a veces el word y el excel ( que es al menos lo que yo utilizaba del MS Office ) el Open Office es una propuesta bastante solida, más liviana y además, gratis, para sentirse bien con uno mismo. Y volviendo a Google Docs, permite la importación de archivos .xls y de Open Office (.ods), así que probé importar mi hoja de gastos a Google Docs y voila! importo perfecto. Así que ahora la tengo ahí. yay.

A causa de la adquisición de mi Reproductor de Mp3 (que lo recomiendo), tuve que entrar más seriamente al mundo del taggeo de mp3s. Para ello, utilizo el mp3tag, programa gratuito, pequeño, simplísimo y muy útil. Permite varias funcionalidades, hacer tags en base a los nombres de los archivos, importar de discogs, amazon, freedb, etc, así como convertir de las tags a nombres de archivo, etc. Perfecto para los usuarios con ligero OCD que tienen que tener todo ordenadito y prolijo.

Por último, para los que trabajan con Audio, les recomiendo que le den una vichada al Reaper, nuevo proyecto de uno de los desarrolladores del Winamp, un muy completo Digital Audio Workstation, que no pesa nada, que es shareware, y anda muy muy bien y tiene un sistema de ruteos que es como mínimo impresionante.
